More Wise times with Karis

So Karis and I were tidying up her toys yesterday when we got onto the topic of me leaving again, she is still trying to comprehend all of this new information. So as we were talking Karis comes out and says "Why are you moving away? Are you getting married? Isn't that what you are supposed to do when you move out?" "No Karis, I am not getting married" "Well maybe you should." FROM A 5 YEAR OLD! Wow...oh well...knowing my luck, she will be married before me...

Wise times with Karis

So Karis and I (my five year old sister for those that don't know) have been spending a great deal of time together lately. Since I have morning off, we spend them together for the most part. Some mornings she goes to preschool and awana, but for the most part me and her just hang out. So early afternoon today, and I am driving her to the babysitters, so I can go to class, and we start talking in the car. We start talking about mothers day and what we want to get mom as gifts. Well Karis starts naming of this HUGE list of stuff she wants to get mom: A color kit, makeup, a red coat, red shoes because hers are broken...just going on and on. So I turn to her and say, "And how missy do you plan on paying for all that?" She looked at me with a complete straight face and with wisdom beyond her years stated "From daddy of course" Like I was the crazy one, oh well, at least she is learning young.
One more story about my little one. Tonight I made Lasagna for supper, with ceasar salad and garlic bread. It was fabulous. But it ended up being only me and Karis. Mom had practice, Haley youth group, daddy worked late and brock was working too. So she was refusing to eat her salad (except for the crutons, she loves those) but I made her eat it. (I am so mean) and well she was very angry with me, crying and making a big scene, even getting to the point of spitting it out. OH I was mad...I had to leave the room. I came back to the kitchen where she was still crying and gave her a talking to instead, then after, her still whimpering, held my arms out to her, and she got up and curled up on my lap. I scratched her back, she cuddled closer. Then I told her when I leave in a month, I won't be coming back for a very very long time. (about 1.5years) and she threw her arms around my neck, and burst into a fresh new set of tears, crying as though her heart was breaking. Holding on to me and not letting me go. Well right then and there I almost second guessed my desicion. A five year old clone of yourself, who is cute as a button (of course she is she is a clone of me) is very hard to resist. Anyway just thought I would share my adventures with Karis!

Five things...

Well since I am laying here...not able to walk and have my laptop sitting in front of me I might as well write a blog. Actually I am writing this blog in response to Deb bidding. She tagged me at the end of her blog, so of course I must proceed.
Five things you may not know about me...
1. I LOVE watching curling...so its sweet the Briars on while I am so inhibited.
2. The two places in the world I want to go to are the Holy Land and Venice.
3. I only learned how to drive standard when I was 20. Three people prior to that tried to teach me...sorry Luke, Tim and Dad.
4. I love Classical music.
5. I used to have the hugest crush on JTT...you know Jonathon Taylor Thomas!!

Here they are, and I am writing this pretty doped up on morphine...haha...so here is who I am going to tag....Julia, the barretts, Jenn Spencer, Jenn Clarke and Matt Rice.

What is next...

I am SOOOO sorry I have not written in so long. Sarah yelled at me at church the other week because it has been so long. Her exact words were "Taryn I will kill you if you don't start blogging again" and THEN she threatened to take me off her link list...the nerve... haha just kids Sarah...Anyway so I have been thinking lots about trends in internet sites. Allow me to explain...

So I have been observing the obvious trends circulating amongst many of my friends. Does anybody remember ICQ? It was so cool to have when I was in high school. Everybody had...everybody but me. My mom refused to let me have ICQ, she allowed me to have MSN but not ICQ. I used to get sooo mad because I felt as though I was missing out on so much.
After a couple years however the cool thing to have was MSN. (So was I extremely ahead of the times or just a complete dork?) Needless to say I loved that I was right in the middle of things. I wasn't behind but I was sitting sweetly where all the cool people were. MSN was pretty big for a long time, and to be honest I still spend way too much time on it.
Towards the end of my last year at Briercrest, the cool thing to do was to create a myspace. So I went all out. I created the cutest myspace that you could. I have music playing, a sweet background and began adding my fellow band wagoners to my "top friends". I began becoming consumed with my "myspace" (it really is an awkward name when paired with the right noun) I checked it everyday, and would become very sensitive about being moved down the list of my friends "top friends".

Then when I moved back to halifax, everyone I talked to seemed to be doing this blogging thing. So of course following suit with everyone else, I definitely started blogging, and with that of course reading everyone else's as well. I began to not only stalk people on my space, but I also began to stalk them on blogspot. It began to get a little out of hand. I used to know all sorts of stuff about people I had never really talked to. Anyway, the more I speak about it the creepier I sound so I will stop now.

The next big fad is one I am currently addicted and obsessed with is FACEBOOK!! Sarah I noticed you got one...jumping on the bandwagon are we?? I am fully and completely addicted to facebook, and I could spend hours a day looking up old crushing...(finding new ones...mind you I will never talk to them...creepy) joining groups and seeing who has more friends than whom. It is ridiculous. Although, I did however get reacquainted with a great friend from my elementary school days. That has definitely been the highlight for me.

As for MSN, blogging, myspace and facebook, I have nothing against any of them. I love them!! I have just been finding that instead of spending quality time with friends, I read their blog , or look at their pictures, and then I feel like I know what been going on in their lives. Thus, at least in my life, it seems to minimize the amount of communication I have with people. Interesting, programs that are intended to bring people closer together actually distance people. So what do you guys think? Do you agree? What trend are you obsessed with right now??
